NISD Board prepares for distance meeting

The Nocona School Board will hold its March meeting on Friday at 5 p.m., announced Supt. Dr. David Waters.

The administrator is finalizing plans on how to conduct a video-conference meeting. As soon as the agenda is set, he would post links to connect to the meeting on the district’s website www.noconaisd.net.

Gov. Greg Abbott issued a directive earlier this month relaxing portions of the Open Meetings Act which required board members to be physically present in the room to conduct a meeting clearing the way for boards to convene electronically.

As part of the governor’s decree local governments must provide a means for the public to ‘attend’ the meeting via telecommunications, have the ability for the public interact and discuss the topics with their board, and have a copy of the “agenda packet” available for review.

Dr. Waters said once the agenda is drafted, he would place a link for the agenda packet on the district website.
