Join court meeting on line Thursday

MONTAGUE – The Montague County Commissioner’s Court will meet in special, called session Thursday morning, April 2, at 10 a.m. to ratify County Judge Rick Lewis’ second Executive Order regarding the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ratification of Judge Lewis’ order, issued on Thursday, March 26, is the only item on the agenda.

In compliance with an order by Gov. Greg Abbott’s, the meeting will be open to the public electronically.

Under the Texas Open Meetings Act, the court is required to accept public comment on the agenda item.

Among other things the order stressed the need for county residents to stay at home if at all possible, only leaving home to go to work, to the doctor or pharmacy, and to the grocery store, and to adhere to social distancing recommendations.

The judge’s order also made it mandatory that persons exposed to a confirmed case of Coronavirus are to self-quarantine for 14 days, or until cleared by medical professionals.

And it cited provisions is state law allowing for the use of any and all publicly owned and privately owned items to assist in confronting the disaster.
