County creates Human Resources Department

MONTAGUE – Over the decades, Montague County’s roster of local government employees has outgrown the ability of the county treasurer’s office to effectively manage all the ‘human resources’ issues required by more than 100 employees.
Monday afternoon the Montague County Commissioner’s Court unanimously voted to create a new Human Resources Department, hiring a full-time Human Resources Director and transferring a deputy clerk’s position from the county treasurer’s office all in an effort to help deal with the reams of paperwork involved in managing the county’s employees.
“This is something that I’ve been looking at and researching for a couple of years for the county,” explained County Judge Rick Lewis as he opened the special called meeting of the court to address the only item on the day’s agenda.
