SAINT JO — Graveside service for Earnest Grable Mize, age 88, of Bowie were held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at Dye Mound Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 12:00-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, at Scott Funeral Home in Saint Jo.
Earnest was born on Feb. 22, 1932, in Apache, Okla., to James Carl Mize and Ethel Mae (Love) Mize. He married Cleta Jean Parks on July 21, 1952, in Wichita Falls. He fought for his country during the Korean War from 1952-1954. Earnest passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, in Bowie surrounded by his children.
Earnest is survived by daughter: Janice and husband John Voss of Warden, Wash.; sons: Carl and wife Rose Mize of Bowie, and William and wife Terry Mize of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister: Gustina and husband Sam Cash of Burkburnett; brother: Billy Ray and wife Carole Mize of Burkburnett; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Earnest is preceded in death by wife: Cleta Mize; parents: James Mize and Ethel Lawson; sisters: Verta Langley and Verna Elkins; and brothers: Earl Mize, Clarence Mize, and Leonard Mize.
