School board votes to recapture lost day of instruction

In a quick, one-item meeting Monday the Nocona School Board recaptured the day of instruction Nocona I.S.D. lost on Tuesday, Sept. 24 before of a reported threat to “shoot up the school.”

“We had an in-service day set for Oct. 15,” Supt. Dr. David Waters explained, “so the faculty was already going to be in.” Now the students will be attending school as well to make up the day lost to the threat.

Students and faculty were already scheduled for a three-day weekend as there was no school planned for Monday, Oct. 14, with the staff development day on Oct. 15.

Now, students will attend school on Oct. 15 to make up for the lost day on Sep. 22.
