Hwy 82 motorists suffer from double vision

Area motorists began thinking they were suffering from double vision last week when the Texas Department of Transportation began replacing “yield,” “one way” and “do not enter” signs along U.S. Highway 82 between Nocona and Saint Jo.

For a state agency whose workforce spends long hours, oftentimes in miserable and dangerous weather conditions, TxDOT comes in for more than a normal share of ridicule.

Justified or not, this latest event raised them to “front page” status on social media.

As one woman’s 8-year-old grandson asked, “Why’s it take 6 men to put a pole in the ground?” as he referred to the number of people standing around watching the new pole be set.
