County gets encouraging words on extending FEMA funding

State officials very hopeful on county getting an extension of the FEMA flood disaster funds.
MONTAGUE – With more than $6.5-million in federal money still lying on the table the Montague County Commissioners Court got the assurances they needed Thursday as they discussed applying for their second 6-month extension from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to fund repairs to roads damaged in the floods of 2015.
The county received a federal disaster declaration in the summer of 2015 after torrential rains ripped the south half of the county in May and then in June similar flooding hit the north half of the county.
All totaled, FEMA approved $13.1 million in federal disaster assistance.
