Area survives the darkness

The portable lighting at the Nocona electric substation was one of only two oasis of light early Tuesday morning.
With the strains of “The Night the Lights Went out in Georgia” most likely trapesing through the minds of many, residents in Nocona, Saint Jo, Montague and Ringgold and surrounding areas spent Sunday and Monday getting ready for Texas-New Mexico Power Company to cut the power at 11:30 Monday night in order to make some system upgrades.
TNMP had publicized the power would be off from 11:30 Monday night to no later than 6:30 Tuesday morning, and hopefully power could be restored by 5:30 Tuesday morning.
