Tombstone Tour comes to The Fort
SPANISH FORT — The Montague County Historical Commission will be hosting a Talking Tombstone Tour in the Old Spanish Fort Cemetery.
The tour will start at the Valley View Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Sept. 28.
There will be a few short speeches before the tour. There you will meet some colorful characters that helped to shape our county’s history.
Author Annetta Ann Rich Weyant will be one of the characters. Annetta will also have her book, “The Spanish Fort Connection,” for sell. Three binders full of history the Spanish Fort area will be auctioned off. The book “Man Hunter in Indian County” will be for sale. This book tells about George Tucker of Spanish Fort, Indian Territory and Johnson County war in Wyoming.
After the tour of the cemetery, we will return to the church for soup and sweets. The cost is $10 per person, children under 12 – $5. There is no need to RSVP. You can pay at the event.
A bus will be provided from the church to the cemetery and back. According to the weather report it’s going to be a bight sunny day so please plan to join us for an afternoon of good food, learning and fun!
