Texas-New Mexico Power is scheduling a planned power outage for all of its customers in Montague County later this month.
TNMP is in the process of replacing its wooden transmission line poles from the Brazos Electric connection east of Saint Jo with steel poles. “We had planned on doing all of that ‘hot,’” TNMP spokesperson Barry Bonds told The Nocona News last week.
But because of the proximity of structures to the substation in Saint Jo, not willing to risk the safety of their construction crew, TNMP is going to have to have a temporary power outage to make the changes in Saint Jo.
“It is scheduled for 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, and should take four to five hours,” Bonds said.
“It will effect approximately 3,200 customers in Nocona, Saint Jo, Montague and Ringgold,” he said.
The alternate date, in case of inclement weather, is Saturday, Nov. 2, same times.
