Classes cancelled

“In an abundance of caution” Nocona I.S.D. cancelled all classes Tuesday after learning of a threat by a former student to commit a shooting at Nocona High School giving law enforcement time to have a juvenile hearing and question the suspect.

Police Chief Kent Holcomb said he was contacted by school officials after 7 Monday evening about them learning of a threat made on social media by a 16-year-old “former student” to “shoot up the school.”

“So, the kid,” NISD Supt. Dr. David Waters recounted Tuesday morning, “flagged down one of our students that he knew from his prior time here and told him ‘Don’t come to school tomorrow. I’m going to shoot, I’m going to be there shooting’ something along those lines.
