Chief’s relative paints homecoming cover art

The cover art for the 2019 NHS Tri-ennial Homecoming Program was painted by a descendant of Quanah Parker.

There’s a special significance to the painting being used to promote this year’s Nocona High School Tri-ennial Homecoming, said Ex-Students President Gloria Foster (Class of 1968)

“It was created by Chief Peta Nocona’s great-great-great grandson, Nocona Burgess, an acclaimed Comanche artist who owns the Eagle Serpent gallery in Santa Fe, NM. Nocona graduated from MacArthur High School in Lawton, Okla., with my daughter, Melanie Carver Simmons, in 1987.
