Phyliss was born July 11, 1937, to Dijon Eppler in New Orleans, LA.
Phyliss devoted her life to teaching, and her thirty-five-year career including high schools from San Antonio to Amarillo as well as teaching at Amarillo College.
Phyliss met Donnie Sewell, and the two married in 1963. They celebrated 53 years of loving, devoted marriage shortly before Donnie passed away in 2016.
In addition to being a devoted wife and teacher, Phyliss was the epitome of the devoted mother. Phyliss was a member of Canyon Hills Church of Christ, and her faith was always evident in her life. Phyliss also took a special joy in God’s creation, especially animals.
Phyliss was preceded in death by her husband Donnie. She is survived by her son Monte Sewell and wife Brye; her daughter Dinita Heitz and husband Lance; grandchildren Slader, Max, Sydney, and Cheyenne; and great-grandchildren Dakota, Aubrey, Sophia, and Lucas.
Phylliss’ funeral was to be Wednesday, Aug. 7, 10 a.m. at Scott-Morris Funeral Home, with Dezmond Stevens officiating.
The family received visitors Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 6-7 p.m.
