Pool’s slide to be removed
One of the Indian Swimmin’ Hole’s favorite attractions, the slide, is being forced into retirement.
“The pool has been doing great this summer…with all of our positives going on, I am sad to report that we have a negative to go with these,” commented NHS coach Jeremy Kirk who along with his wife Meagan are managing the pool this year.
“We found out Thursday, they would be removing the slide from the pool due to the broken leg piece and the cracking fiberglass. At this time, we don’t have the funds to purchase a new slide,” he glumly announced.
“After speaking with Dr. Waters,” he said of NISD Supt. Dr. David Water, “we have come up with the idea of taking donations for those interested in donating money for a slide.”
“It will be sad to see it go, but the safety of our kids and swimmers is the most important thing,” he said.
After doing to research, the district has selected a SR Smith Rogue2 Pool Slide, in blue, which has a retail price of $1,599.95. Once funds are secured, the district, which manages the pool in an agreement reached with the city of Nocona back in the 1950s, will purchase the slide and have it installed.
To make a donation to the Slide Fund, contact the Kirks at the pool each weekday afternoon, or the School Administration Office in downtown Nocona.
