JoAnn Hackley
JoAnn Deakins Hackley departed this world on June 8, 2019. A Tea Party tribute to JoAnn will be held on June 22 at 11 a.m. in Plymouth Park Baptist Church’s Baker Hall, Irving.
She was born Jan. 13, 1937, in Mineral Wells to Coy and Rosa Bell Deakins.
JoAnn grew up in Graham and graduated from Graham High School. On Aug. 19, 1955, she married her high school sweetheart, the love of her life, William Coleman Hackley (Dub). JoAnn and Dub raised two children – Angela and Matt. After moving to Irving they became very involved in Plymouth Park Baptist Church and in recent years, with First Baptist Church Irving.
JoAnn also participated in the Irving Woman’s Club and Turf Turner’s Garden Club. She was a true hostess and one of the first to offer their home. She was famous for hosting Bible Studies, parties, showers, teas and taking the grand daughters to High Tea. She was preparing for a Christmas dinner party when she suffered her stroke. Dub and JoAnn enjoyed traveling, square dancing, visiting friends and grandchildren.
JoAnn is survived by her husband of over 63 years, Dub; her daughter Angela and her husband Dr. Chris Dalrymple, her son Matt and his wife Karri Hackley; and grandchildren Sarah Dalrymple, William and his wife Anne Dalrymple, Clayton Dalrymple, Allie Hackley, Zac and Kady Hackley Dunnam and Lindey Hackley, and great-granddaughter Charlotte Dalrymple.
She is also survived by sisters Susie Ryan, Francis Marshall and husband Marlin, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
JoAnn was preceded in death by parents Coy and Rosa Bell Deakins, sister Irene Wellman, brothers Gus Deakins and J.C. Deakins, and their daughter Melissa, who died as a newborn.
