Governor signs Lake Nocona bill

By Tracy R. Mesler

Gov. Greg Abbott signed House Bill 2329 on Friday, May 31, the final step in allowing the city of Nocona to take possession of Lake Nocona and all of the assets, and obligations, of the North Montague County Water Supply District.

Filed by St. Rep. Drew Springer (R-Muenster), HB2329 states, “The directors of the North Montague County Water Supply District shall wing up the affairs of the district. On Dec. 31, 2019, the (district) is dissolved; the terms of the directors of the district expire and all assets and liabilities of the district are transferred to the City of Nocona.”

In addition, the action of the 53rd Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, which created the district in 1954 “is repealed.”
