Business adjusting hours for Covid-19

If you can get it in Nocona, please, PLEASE shop locally and help your neighbors keep their doors open. We will need them once this public health emergency has passed.

Many of our churches are doing their part switching to electronic worship services beginning this Sunday.

The governor has ordered all dining rooms and bars to be closed through midnight April 3rd. Restaurants are allowed to sell take-out and delivery food – and residents are encouraged to utilize those services.

All school districts in the county are closed through April 10 (Prairie Valley through April 13).

Gov. Greg Abbott has strongly recommended Texans ‘stay home’ and limit travel to necessities – work, food, fuel, pharmacy and physician. He has not yet issued a “shelter in place” order as has been done in other states.

Additionally, under gubernatorial order, social gatherings are limited to no more than 10 people. Violators can be issued citations and fines can be assessed – both to the owner/operators and to the patrons who fail to abide by this emergency order. Please help your local merchants adhere to this requirement by being patient and waiting your turn to shop.

This is a fluid situation thus circumstances and operating hours may change for our local merchants, but as of Tuesday afternoon:

–Gibbs Drug Store (825-3226) will be operating under normal hours.

–Nocona General Rural Health Clinic (825-3333) is open during regular hours but call ahead for an appointment so they can pre-screen your symptoms. The clinic may be able to utilize the relaxed tele-medicine provisions and avoid any unnecessary face-to-face exposure for the medical staff or yourself.
