Joe Blevins

Joe E. Blevins, 78, died at his home surrounded by his loving family near Nocona on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020.

Joe was born on Nov. 7, 1941, in Ringgold to E.R. and Doris Terry Blevins.

Joe loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. He also loved to raise gardens, especially cucumbers for his homemade pickles.

He married his longtime love, Sharon McCallister on June 22, 1963, in Jack County.

Joe worked for Haliburton as an assistant superintendent, later in life he retired from being a farmer.

Joe is survived by his wife, Sharon Blevins of Nocona; sons, Brad Blevins and wife Teresa of Antelope, Nile Blevins and wife Cheramie of Nocona, Stacy Blevins and wife Gina of Henrietta, and Lance Blevins and wife Tabatha of Hastings, Okla.; sister, Barbara Blevins of Chesapeake, Vir.; brother, Van Blevins of Henrietta; 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Larry Sean Blevins and granddaughter, Samantha.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m. at Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel in Nocona with Rev. Ron Branham officiating.  Interment followed in Ringgold Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Johnny Blevins, Rowdy Blevins, Blake Blevins, Matthew Blevins, Chris Womack and Troy Parker. Memorial donations may be made to Solaris Hospice.
